This book was good but not one of my favorites of Elizabeth Lowell. It took me a long time to get into the story, and the plot. I guess the subject matter--concerning Mexican drug cartels--was not that interesting to me. I liked the characters and wish there was more about them and not so much delving into the Mexican crime scene.

I enjoyed this very much mostly because it is the first of this series and wanted to put the subsequent books in context. It is not as good as the later books in the series but very enjoyable just the same.

A really good book. I read all authors and Lowell does a better job of holding my attention than most. This was fast paced and full of action.

I'd give this an 'ok'--I'm not big on hispanic stuff, Mexican drug lords don't interest me so I skimmed over a lot of pages and just got on with the story and didn't try to read every word.
