This book provides an excellent novelization of the Buffy episodes Teacher's Pet, Inca Mummy Girl, and Bewitched Bothered & Bewildered.

At first, I wasn't sure if I wanted to read stories based on a television show, even a show I like. But as I continued reading, I started to enjoy reading about Xander's misadventures and finding out how he saw things and what he thought.

This novelization of three episodes of the popular Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series follows the exploits of Buffy's friend Xander Harris. "Teacher's Pet" takes place during Xander's sophomore year when he is enamored of the new science teacher only to discover that she routinely mutates into a giant preying mantis who mates with and then devours teenage male virgins. In "Inca Mummy Girl," Xander falls in love with an exotic foreign exchange student who turns out to be an ancient, cursed mummy who must kill to stay alive. "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" chronicles Xander's on again/off again relationship with Cordelia Chase during his senior year. The tales are cleverly interspersed throughout a single evening during which Xander dreams about previous and current loves. Enough background about the series' characters is provided for teens who do not regularly watch the show or read the books, and they will still be able to appreciate the stories.
