excellent true story by pulitzer prize winner- so personal and interesting- all about horses, their personalities, talents, races, owners, whisperer, and more.

The non-fiction version of "Horse Heaven." I really enjoyed the horse stories and the psychic is great. I wasn't really interested in the theorizing, seemed more like padding, but overall a good horse book.

I liked this book a lot. Jane Smiley's books are all interesting. I had never lived in the world of horses until this book. It took a few pages to get with it but she did keep me interested and I went on to more of her work.

If you are not into the minutae of horses, this book is not for you. Some of the stories are entertaining, but any trainer or vet has the same.
