Interesting book (especially at the beginning) about a little known event that changed the course of history. Only the first few pages was about the actual 1815 eruption, since there wasn't a lot of western observers of the event. A lot of eye witness accounts.

Great book. Needs maps (where the heck is Mount Tambora in relationship to the rest of the East Indies?) and charts. Maybe the paperback edition will have them?
