This is a lovely prequel to Walter Farley's original Black Stallion tales, written by Farley and his son Steven. It describes the early life of The Black from a yearling on. It also explains how a valuable horse with a unique bloodline was shipped on a tramp steamer, there to be rescued by young Alec Ramsey in the subsequent shipwreck.
