If you haven't read any of Brad Meltzer's book you are missing a very good author, his book are very intelligent suspense thriller. He does a lot of research to provide a good story. This one is about a game that almost no one knows about, not their friends, not their cowaokrkers, and certainly not their powerful bosses, who are the most influential senators and congressmen on Capitol Hill. Harris and Matthew are the winners in the lastest game but it leads to murder, deception and a political cover up but is it really a game or a CON? See if you can figure out what the heck is going on! Good read!

Read this on an airplane...better than nothing to read at all. I love books set in DC. It gets the geography down pat (especially inside the Capitol), but I found the story lacking. But, good pulp read.

This book is interesting and keeps you thinking. At first it is a bit confusing but then it all comes together. A good mystery and plot. Another good beach read which moves along at a nice clip.

This was quite good. I never developed a great affection for the characters, but it was well-written and I wasn't annoyed by anything (which is so seldom the case with action novels with so many hack writers out there).

This was a great thriller. I had a hard time putting it down. From a very surprising twist early in the book, right up until the end, I was so engrossed in the plot I would worry for the safety of the protagonists. It is well-written and, I thought, carried the action seamlessly throughout a sometimes complex (in a good way) narrative. The book does a good job of weaving interesting facts about life in Congress (and Washington) with a good science mystery and a lot of close calls. If you enjoy thrillers, you will enjoy this one.

I've never read a book that better illustrates the inner workings of our government in Washington, D.C. Meltzer takes you there because he's been there. You can tell this idea has been bouncing around in his head since he was a congressional intern himself. A wild ride that I'm really glad I got on!

Matthew and Harris have been friends for a long time. Both land a job at Washington's Capital Hill. They devise a game called The Zero Game.A game so secretive nobody knows about. But somebody else knows about the game and when somebody close to them winds up dead, the game becomes more complicated. From the secret underground tunnels of the Capitol to an abandoned gold mine it is an unrelenting suspenseful book. Could'nt put it down for a minute.

Matthew Mercer and Harris Sandler are playing a mysterious game. It's a game almost no one knows about -- not their friends, not their coworkers, and certainly not their bosses, who are some of the most powerful senators and congressmen on Capitol Hill.

It's a game that has everything: risk, reward, mystery, and the thrill of knowing that -- just by being invited to play -- you've confirmed your status as a true power broker in Washington.

But as Matthew and Harris quickly discover, the Zero Game is hiding a secret so explosive that it will shake Washington to its core. And when someone close to them winds up dead, Harris and Matthew realize this game is far more sinister than they ever imagined. As the bull's-eye turns their way, it's clear they're about to recome the game's next victims.

In a frenetic chase from the secret tunnels under the Capitol to an abandoned gold mind halfway across the country, the two friends realize they're no longer players in the game -- they're pawns. On the run, they turn to the only person they can trust: a sixteen-year-old Senate page who can move around the Capitol undetected. As a ruthless killer creeps closer, this idealistic young page not only holds the key to their safety, but is the one person who can redeem them in the process.

Packed with high-octane suspense and heart-pounding action, THE ZERO GAME is Brad Meltzer at his super-charged best.
