Gripping from the word go. This is a sweet and sad story of two young men pushed together to Do what seems to be an impossible task during the ugly, cruel invasion of Russia by the Germans. Fast and can't put down until finished book. Terrific writing.. Sad on many levels when I finished it.

Tried as I did, I couldn't get into this book. It read like a documentary.

The writing of Kay Mitchell is a notch above many cozy mysteries. I didn't find myself zipping through this book as quickly as a do with other similar mysteries, but enjoyed the slower ride. The only 'issue' was there were many, many characters, and if you pit the book down for too many days it was a little difficult to remember who was who.
I will definitely seek out more books by this author.

How did I not know of this author and the series? This was a fantastic mystery set in England with a cast of character that would rival an Agatha Christie line up. Great story that moves in harmony, never a dull page. I was excited to finish this with the hopes of reading some of the earlier Inspector Tibbett episodes.
