RAchel Buchanan, knew that Mayor Henry Slater was after her granddaughter, that Slater and the girl were meeting secretly. She resolved to put and end to it, to expose him to his wife and to the town. But Rachel underestimated teh depth of Slater's obession. Slater could not and would not give up the girl, and he could not allow the exposure that Rachel threatened. But he could do something about it.
