At times this book gets a bit repetitious, perhaps that is deliberate for the younger audience it is intended for. But it is a quick, easy, and compelling read. Great characters.

I felt like there was a joke I was missing, again and again and again. I can see why people have called it clever, but I didn't find it very funny.

Bringing Up Boys: Practical Advice and Encouragement for Those Shaping the Next Generation of Men
Review Date: 9/29/2006

Despite what the cover says, this book offers very little practical advice. There is no advice for day-to-day issues. And the only encouragement is for those that fit Dobson's model of the good family. We can't turn back time. I'd rather learn how to raise good children in today's culture, than continually bemoan the fact that life in the U.S. just isn't what it used to be.

Kiss Me Goodnight: Stories And Poems By Women Who Were Girls When Their Mothers Died

I related better to the stories similar to mine, but this book is good. There's healing when you find others that have been through what you've been through.

Not my type of book, I guess. I enjoyed about half of the book, then got tired of the slow pace.

Really enjoyed. Was fascinating to read from the perspective of different characters and see why the felt and acted as they did.

Not really my kind of book. While well-written, it got kind of tiring reading about a child/young adult that lived years and years with no supervision. Critics called it funny...I never laughed, though the author did manage to use a tone that kept the story from being overwhelming sad and tragic.

I had difficulty sympathizing with the main character -- she is so incredibly selfish and shallow. Yet I had to be there when she finally realized she simply had to change. Good read.
