I read this book with my son and we both really enjoyed this story about an orphan boy during the depression. Bud took us on an adventure that we laughed, cried, and wouldn't soon forget.

In the description of the book, it tells how Izzy Chambers quits her law practice and opens a Cape Ann knitting shop. The book jacket leads the reader to believe that the book will be written from Izzy's viewpoint. I was disappointed to discover that 1/4 into the story it is actually from her Aunt Nell's view. This makes the book slow moving and boring. Aunt Nell worries about the murder, worries about Nell, talks about the love she has for her husband, talks about,knitting,food,knitting,food,knitting,food,knitting..
blah.blah.blah.By the end of the book I really didn't care to find out who the murderer was.

Simply written in poetic prose, this book takes us down a road of one girl's journey of discovery. This simply written story begins with Rachel's bi-polar mother packing up and leaving the family. Rachel is left to carry on with her father whom she doesn't really know. The two forge ahead and must learn to live, cope, love, and carry on with their lives together. I loved this book. It can easily be read in one sitting. It's a book that stays with you long after it is read. (American Library Association Notable Book)

This is a book that can be used to sit with your child and marvel at all the wonderful animals that had been created out of a variety of leaves of all shapes and sizes. Or you can use this book as a "how to.." The author in a very simple way tells you what leaves to find and shows and directs you how to make these wonderful leaf animals.
Amazing!

This is a story about a tomboy named Tugs. Tugs is very likable and funny. The author does an excellent job in making us believe that we are right in the small town of Iowa with Tugs and setting off with her on her mischievous adventures. Along with being entertaining, this story also gives the reader a realistic perspective of what life in 1929 would be like living in a small town in Iowa. Even though the main character is a girl, boys should also find this story enjoyable.

This book is a fast moving plot with entertaining characters. It does not have a complicated storyline, which makes it a perfect read for the beach, airplane ride, or while you watch little Johnny in the sandbox. My ultimate favorite book by Woods is still one of his earliest novels called "Chiefs". If you haven't checked it out yet please do. It has so many twists and turns, it will set your mind whirrling!

This book continues the saga of all the familiar characters from the series. Don't expect too much relevance, but a quick, enjoyable read with more than a few laughs.

Do not bother getting this book. What a waste. I would not even call it a book. It is a few pages taken from another of Shannon's books.

I am sorry to say that I could not finish this book.
I feel guilty to say the least. But so many books and so little time! Even though the author wrote beautifully, the plot went nowhere. Their lives at the cabin which takes place over a week's time, seemed like a year. I did not connect with the characters to even care what happened to them. To tell you the truth, I enjoyed reading about Rufus the most and he is the family's springer spaniel.
