While most expect a love story to have some hurdles or difficulties, I don't think most authors would create the "difficulty" or "hurdle" of having a shotgun wedding for a pregnancy that Gavin is not responsible for. It's a story true to Christian teachings and very well written.

Made me cry. One of the few books that actually depicts a secret tryst, most only allude to it or the reader finds out after the fact. Definitely reminds one that things were different around 1900. I definitely got a sense of how the church demanded that the leadership be "perfect" in all respects, as well as how in looking at the new things that came along, medicine and church were horrified - not to mention some things that society looked down on. To be fair, though, they still wore corsets... :)

Ted Dekker weaves a thriller into a love story. Or a love story into a thriller. Quite an amazing story and one of my favorites.

A great read - sometimes has a bit too much cadence so that while reading, you feel like it's a form of lulling poetry rather than a prose story.
Solving many different mysteries, Patience lives her life - with some surprises along the way.

The book introduces the reader to a world after a catastrophe where the only technology that survived was the use of manipulating DNA. So it seems, because the bands of outriders have orders to collect un-manipulated species of animals. Throughout the book, the focus swings between the leader of the band and his problems with a wayward member and Niki, who has been sent to gather new scouts from their drop-off point. In the process, she learns a bit about herself and who she is called to be.

In this second book, the two lovebirds are getting used to being engaged. There are a couple mysteries that are solved, including one involving an unfaithful wife.
It's quite well written and very very good for reading

Revisiting one of my favorite series was awesome. The characters are more developed and the story just "sucks" a person in. I'm not sure if there's a third book being published, but I hope there is!

An amazing retelling of the story of Hosea from the Bible. It's updated to reflect the love of God through Christ. This story begins with the history of two of the main characters, but then Dekker introduces a new character. Everytime I read it, I am reminded of God's love for us. Great read!

This book picks up where No Rest for the Wicked leaves off; only the focus switches to Gavin, the werewolf that Sebastian enclosed in the fire rocks. The story entwines the lore of the Witches with the life of the werewolf Gavin - and the reason(s) that he had been in misery before meeting Mariketa.
