The conflict in this book between sex education and a fundamentalist church was a realistic conflict but fell short of finding a conclusion. The 2 main characters just seemed to give up. This started out as one good story, but seemed to lose steam and then direction. The characters were interesting and the story was good. It is worth finishing if you pick it up.

Bernard Gotfryd recalls his Jewish experience in the Holocaust right before WWII breaks out and after in several short stories. Each story is simply but elegantly told and we can see a glimpse of hope and humanity in each. I liked this book and was sorry to see it end.

Life of Pi is the kind of book that leaves you thinking about it days after you have finished it. I loved it!! Right away, I could see that this book is spiritual, symbolic and very very human. The author has really made what should be an outrageous plot plausible and a "this could really happen," story. I am going to find more Yann Martel works.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved how a real family formed within the characters. The story seemed like waves coming inland: some waves brought all the characters and then, waves swept them all back again. I was sad when the story ended and found myself thinking about the characters for days afterward.
