I am rereading this very deep and thought-provoking book. It is already full of post-it book marks of passages that struck me as most enlightening. Not an easy read, but a worthwhile study.

Excellent combination of a nature adventure, biography, and detective novel. Blehm captures the wild beauty of the Sierra's and one man's love of it. He brings to life the complex life and mysterious end of a legendary back country ranger. A compelling read from start to finish.

I was amazed by some of the adaptations animals have to survive the cold and lack of food. A thorough, deep, yet very readable treatment.
