This is an excellent version of Heaney's wonderful and accessible translation of Beowulf. The illustrations and photographs give the story a strong historical context, and help even further to bring the words alive.

Just as entertaining as when I read it 50 years ago! It is a good read aloud, especially if the reader is good at accents!

I read this many years ago and never forgot it. I love all of Connie Willis's books - great characters, situations, fast paced with a nice touch of humor, and always topical. This one has become incredibly topical!! Some parts really hit home in light of the current pandemic. Just read it! Although I can't seem to rate this, I would give it a 4 out of 5.

I am a fan of the series, so was very interested in seeing an artist's concept of how the characters looked. This, I thought, was nicely done in this graphic novel and I appreciated the attention to detail. My only criticisms of the artwork are that Claire seemed too young in some panels (and occasionally too 'manga'), as did Murtagh, Jamie's godfather. Because the secondary men seemed all of an age, it was difficult sometimes to sort them out. But, all in all, an enjoyable read and addition to the series.

I love this series, and have been slowly collecting and reading them in order. Well-written characters, action, history, and investigation. A great way to exit this time and wrap your mind around life and relationships in the past. A stimulating vacation for the mind...

I have been teaching myself herbal medicine for many years, having realized that many plants in my area can be used in their natural state, instead of buying synthetic or unknown supplements. Although older, this book is a wealth of information. I highly recommend it as an addition to anyone's library who is into this topic.

Although it has been more than 40 years since I last read this, it is still a most excellent story. Every character is sharp and believable, and the tension is carefully done. And fyi, it is the state read for Vermont this year.

This ia an intriguing and well-written story that engages the mind as well as the heart. The premise is presented in a realistic way and the main characters are very believable.
We read it out loud and it triggered several interesting discussions. We look forward to the remaining two books.
