Not as entertaining as The Hostage Bride. I felt Phoebe was too meek and innocent and never would have made her sexual wishes known to her husband or disobeyed her husband the way she kept doing. The female character was just to unbelievable. First too boring then to unbelievable risky.
The storyline of the stepson's muderous intent was far more interesting.
All in all, not as interesting as other Jane Feather novels.

Well worth the read if you are reading all the other Bastion Club books. I usually don't read pre-quels but this one stands alone and I believe you will enjoy this book.

Enjoyable and entertaining. Nice to read a book that does not follow all the other plots.
Portia is her own woman and very unconventional. A woman who can do anything a man can do. I enjoyed reading about her journey to become a soldier but still remain a woman who needs her friends and a loving family.

Cute picture book. Good for ideas but can't recreate ME's collections.

Not worth the credit but intend to keep it in my library until I rework my pond this spring. Maybe it will be helpful in practical matters. I have yet to decide.
