I like the characters in the Alex Delaware books. The crimes seem to become more grisly with each book. I will continue to read the series.

Excellent read. Engrossing with subtle humor and a historical bent. Went to order the rest of the series only to find there is a waiting list even though some of his books have been out for more than 10 years.

John Irving is a great writer to me because of all the idiosyncrasies he brings together in his books. There is never a resolution that is expected or get to the finish the way you expected. This was a re read for me and it was as good as ever.

I have never read this author before but seeing all the hype of being on the best seller list I thought I'd give it a try. Not sure what the draw is. The plot was predictable, forced and contrived. I'm not sure I'd even spend the time reading it at the beach. Just not my cup of tea.....but I did try a new author! Maybe her other books were better.

I didn't know what to expect from this book after the reviews I read. Very engaging although disturbing at the end as the immediate and intimate experience of 2 characters is exposed to the world. Great skill on Ms Donoghue's part writing from a child's perspective in a believable manner that drew the reader into his world. Worth getting.

So You're Thinking About Homeschooling: Fifteen Families Show How You Can Do It

The overall reference to teaching christian values overrode the usefulness of the book for me. If that is a priority in teaching than this book may be helpful.

This book was eye opening when I first read it. It helped me to identify other people's defense mechanism verbally and realize that that it didn't mean I was right, in the case of flattery, or wrong. I lost my copy and am pleased to have this on hand as a reference to try and dissect a difficult relationship at work or in the community. It helps me to better understand how to more effectively communicate.

Good read. I took it more as a personal journal vs a "how to" make the difficult journey. Bryson makes it clear that he was not in the best of shape to conquer the trek. Notable is how he continued the journey after several hiatus' solo and with company. Some reviews I read on this site seemed miffed that he didn't take the arduous hike as seriously as they did. However, everyone's adventure can be done for various reasons and outcomes.

I enjoy reading Elizabeth Berg's books. Her style reminds me of Ann Tyler's writing. I feel as though I am a voyeur into someone else s life and from the sidelines judge if that is what I would do in the situation. Just when I think I've figured it out Berg adds an unexpected twist to the plot.
