A lovely collection of essays about family, animals and life. Sweet and inspirational. It is actually a collection of his columns from The Philadelphia Inquirer.

I love this series and have waited a very long time for this book. I am in the midst of reading the book now. I have enjoyed the read very much. I wish it was not over yet. That being said there have been moments in the book where I wished the attention to detail was not so intense. A bit slow at times. Mostly though I enjoyed getting back to the life journey of the main characters and meeting the new ones. Jean Auel is a masterful narrator.

This amazing book was sitting on a table in a cottage we rented. I ran out of things to read and picked it up. I had never read a western before and did not have high expectations. I could not put it down! I loved it. The story is mesmerizing, the characters leap off the pages. I can not imagine anyone not enjoying this book. It is probably on my top ten books list.

It is a gentle quiet storytelling kind of book. I do not love this series as much as I loved The #1 Ladies Detective Agency series, but I do like these books and will continue to read them.

This picture of Dean Martin through his daughter's eyes is very interesting. He was a complex man. He was all I suspected he would be and more. There was much to admire and some aspects of his life that were very sad. Lots of "insider"stories . A view into an interesting and creative life.

I loved this book. I was drawn into the story immediately. It is the kind of story you find yourself thinking about when you are forced to put the book down to deal with your ordinary life. It is so simply and well written! The story , the characters, the place all come to life. In some ways it reminded me of "TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD". It is just a superbly written, suspenseful story.

I was pleasantly surprised at how very much I enjoyed this book. It is a very well written and compelling story of a family experiencing the trials of leaving their families and establishing roots in a country with totally different traditions.

I took this book on vacation with me. It was a good and interesting read. I learned a lot about Chinese culture and about the social conditions in that time and place.

Fun read. Novella that fills in some background material on some of the lesser characters.

I really enjoyed this book, written by a real lady. I feel she tells her story in a quiet, gentle and compelling way. Her honesty and love for her family are very apparent. She has lived an interesting life. She has experienced so much and met so many famous people.
I was tremendously impressed with her generosity and her sharing nature. Some insight was certainly offered into the politics of her husbands terms as Commander in Chief. It also gave a clear picture of the heart and soul of her husband. It was a good read . Entertaining and informative.

I decided to read this book because my Granddaughter was raving about it. I was amazed to find myself totally caught up in the story and went through the whole series in about a week. I am a fan! It is not great literature, but it is a very compelling story. It seems to cross all generations in its appeal.

Freestanding sequel to EARTHLY JOYS. Delivers a story of politics, personal discovery and amazing gardening. An intelligent and satisfying read. Cleverly conceived and executed historical narrative.
