I have been getting a copy of every book written by this author. Needless to say I enjoy the style of writing & character development! The setting for all novels is Nashville, TN which is the capitol of my state. It makes the books seem almost personal to me, having lived there previously. I would recommend them to anyone who enjoys a great mystery.

Prepare to be hooked! Of course if you have read the previous 6 in this series I should offer you some 12-step program for Ms Harris' books. I don't have words to do justice to the characters (who become intimate friends of yours) or the imagination of the author. Charlaine, you are the Queen of writers and Sookie if your Princess.

From the book back cover: "We want to believe that we have control of our lives. But we don't. We can't even promise our time. The best we can promise is our hearts. And the most we can hope for is to live each moment as if it's our last."
If you want a love story that seems like life this is your book. Evan's characters are so real that I was speaking to them in my head. Powerful love story!

I only bought this book because chocolate was in the title but was surprised when the suspense crept in. Plus all the action and her mention of what she was preparing while trying to solve murder in her head made me so hungry while reading this book. (She has recipes all through the book, total of 10!) The recipes are good, I tried them. The writing is quite good as well. I enjoyed this book and the bright, opinionated caterer.

Quote The Anniston(AL) Star: "With ...an audacious wink of her eye, Harris creates a workd that is both a weird possibility and a wild ride." and The Eternal Night: "Charlaine Harris's talent is a marvelous thing." I totally agree with these reviewers! This book starts after the hurricane Katrina and will keep you up late reading the latest adventures of Sookie and the critters.

Between Riley and her twin brother (Rhoan)there seems to be some kind of "scary-type" danger around every corner. How they manage to get out of all this trouble can be scary or humerous. She resists her boss' invitation to become a full-time warrior, yet does the work anyway.
The characters in this book feel like friends after reading and one doesn't quite want to let them go...until the next book!

Who doesn't love Nora Roberts?? This series is scary and the monster seems unbeatable and there are only 3 men and 3 women working to kill this beast that takes over their small town every 7 years and causes havoc. Not difficult to see why Nora Roberts is a #1 NY Times bestselling author.

From the inside front cover: "Since the lightning snaked through the window of the trailer in Texarkana when I was fifteen, I've been able to locate corpses. Think about it. Caveman corpses, Native American corpses, the early settlers, the most recently deceased - that's a lot of dead people, and they all let me know where their earthly remains were interred..." Another Charlaine Harris character (and her step-brother) who become alive on the pages. Who keep you up late unable to close the book until you find the key to solve the mystery. Harris is the best writer I've read.

On the Prowl: Alpha and Omega / Inhuman / Buying Trouble / Mona Lisa Betwining
Review Date: 7/14/2009

...is how I felt reading authors that were new to me. I'm a HUGE fan of Patricia Briggs and after reading this book now a big fan of Eileen Wilks, Karen Chance and Sunny.
Each story was completely different and each story kept me up at night finishing them (until my husband said "honey, please turn off the light--I have to go to work in 2 hours!") often heading back to the sofa to give my poor huaband some darkness to sleep.
My personal fav was Mona Lisa Betwining by Sunny. It featured a new "creature" and a new bump in the night to make me sleep with a 9mm under my pillow. I don't know why I should feel safe, it probably wouldn't even hurt a child of the moon.
