This is a typical boy meets girl love story with current events like 9/11. It's a tragedy and even the prologue will tell you that it does not end well. It is from the view of the protagonist, John. Even though the army is a large part of his life, he only mentions it in general and talks about 9/11 and Iraq briefly. I enjoyed reading it but gave it 4 stars only because I'm sap for tragedies. It's a well polished story line but pretty typical.

The book was a good read as it kept me interested throughout the book. There wasn't a dull moment; however the book just ends suddenly as if it was rushed. The ending was a unique and beautiful way to end but it still felt very unsatisfying. I would recommend it because of the unique perspective of the book and the wonderful narrative but it will leave you unsatisfied at the end.

The book is probably 90% stories of readings that Mrs. DuBois has done. The readings are written from her point of view and then includes the point of view of the person she was reading. The book acts as "proof" that Mrs. DuBois is speaking to the dead. The readings were mildly interesting. There was one chapter just about the show Medium and how much of it is true to her life. The end includes more specific information such as the topic of where suicides go and a conversation she had with a Medium Catholic Priest. I found those sections at the end to be the most interesting and would have liked to seen more of that in the book. I was hoping this book would be informative but it was mostly Mrs. DuBois trying to prove herself. The book did give me enough hope to keep searching for the answers I need.
