I received this book because there was an event in an Amish Community that broke my heart and my grandmother took that as meaning I had a strong interest in the Amish way of life.
The book is quick and easy to read. It provides a very broad description of the Amish way of living and why they live the way they do. Reading this book provides an initial insight into the Amish community that will help you generate deeper questions if you're interested, or provide just the right amount of information if you only want an overview.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to know a little bit more about the Amish than what they've seen in pictures or movies.

My 6 year old is not one to sit still. And especially not to hear someone read to him. However, he sat through this book and we finished it together in only three sessions!
This book was well written for his age, though I read it to him. It inspired his imagination and taught him some facts at the same time! He wants me to get more books for him from this series.

This book was given to me on my third birthday a LONG time ago. Now, both of my children love to read about the fourteen bears as they go paw in paw through summer and winter. We love to sit and look at the colorful illustrations. I enjoy the unique personality of each of the bears as defined through their activities and the way they are drawn.
I highly recommend having a copy of this book on your child's bookshelf. My copy of the book has seen lots of "love" and has nearly fallen apart from use. It's being held together by clear packing tape, but that doesn't keep us from reading it often.

I have an older addition of the book. It is an excellent source for scriptural support of doctrines of the Christian Faith. I used it to develop and lead a series on basic Faith principles that helped introduce small groups to Christian beliefs. It's an excellent bible study.

I really like that this book provides some short lists of actions to take to improve the way I think about things. The lists include items to help improve your success through interaction with other people, managing your own thoughts, moving your self toward being action oriented, and more. I'm planning to keep my copy as a reference and potentially even create study cards of some of the lists.
Also, if you're in a hurry, each chapter has a summary of the main points and actions at the end. You could just read those and refer to the chapter if you need additional information to understand the point.

I assumed this book would be written more toward a female audience than to the husbands. So, I began reading it from the perspective of "Let's see what she tells the wives." I was delighted to find that it is really written in a way that can strengthen marriages no matter which spouse reads the book. The book is filled with good advice and humor.
If my children were of the age to be thinking about relationships, I would pay them to read it. Each chapter ends with a list of discussion questions that will help them think about the concepts that will improve their marriage quality.
If you can accept advice without all the supporting stories, reasons, and humor, each chapter also ends with a list of "Simple Reminders" that sum up the main points of the chapter. If you're truly in a hurry, read the reminders and look for the details in the chapter if you discover you need more information about one.
