In part from the back cover...When a man's shattered family hires V.I. to investigate, she is sucked into a Gothic tale of sex, money, and power, leading her back to McCarthy-era blacklists and forward to some of the darker aspects of the Patriot Act. As V.I. finds herself penned in to a smaller and smaller space by an array of people trying to silence her, and before she can untangle the sordid truth, two more people will die-and V.I.'s own life willhang in the balance.

Absolutely fasinating story. Although the narrator's voice was very deep and difficult to understand at the beginning of the story, I found it to be very soothing after the first CD. I look forward to listening/reading more stories from this author. I would encourage anyone who listens to this to also listen to the interview with the author at the end of the story.

I had a hard time reading this book and actually didn't even finish it. I think the author has worn out the characters. They are so unbelievable and unlikeable where they are at now. I used to be so eager awaiting her next book to come out with these characters but have been so disappointed in the last couple that I have read. After reading this one, I think I am going to give up on following her.

The Dark Tide (Ty Hauck, Bk 1) (Audio CD) (Unabridged)

I really liked this book until the last CD or two. I then noticed that the characters constantly used the name of the person that they were speaking to in the dialogues. It got to be so annoying to me that I had a hard time following the story line as it was so distracting. Other than that, it was a good storyline.

I liked this book until the last 2 CDs. I felt like the author was going over the same stories and feelings that the characters were experiencing over and over again. Also, I felt that the author reflected his dismal attitude about relationships and life in general throughout the entire book. I couldn't wait for the story to end!

Very graphic at times but having the author read this book is very powerful. The depth of his emotions really comes through.

What a wonderful story! The narrator did an exceptional job of portraying the characters. (I listened to the Audio version) I could envision the characters so easily. Although some of the experiences were a little farfetched, I found myself laughing and crying and "living" with the family. I would definately read more stories from this author.

I never finished the book. It got a little too strange for me. I can't call myself a "believer" though so maybe it would be meaningful for those who are. It was recommeded to me by a co-worker who enjoyed it very much.

I listened to the audio book and Mr. Burroughs' strong emotions were very evident. I was transfixed at times and horrified at others. Very powerful.
