This book was made into the movie, "Trapped" and republished under that same name. A New York Times bestseller for a reason, 24 Hours/Trapped is a tension-building movie and an even better book.

Chick lit written from the guy's point of view. Alex has been Mr. Nice Guy for too long. Betrayed and angry, he becomes the striving, competitive, ambitious guy who has always passed him by & screwed him over in the past. A bit of selfishness and confidence is not such a bad thing professionally -- he is able do things he had never dared & only dreamed of professionally. But his personal & inner life suffer as he becomes the type of guy he has always hated.

The second book of the Parasol Protectorate, continues the story of Alexis as she assumes her new duties as both wife, and agent of the Crown. While this book does much to advance the storyline, the pacing is slower than the first book, and there are few surprises, save at the end of the book. The last chapter sets up the next book and does so remarkably well. A well-written, interesting saga that is a breath of fresh air to the genre, without being bogged down by the banality of today's supernatural/romance fiction.

One of the better chick lit books. Louise needs help -- in a passionless marriage, with no joy in her life, she turns to a book, then to the counsel of friends to find a way to live a life that is elegant -- elegant in that she feels accepted, desired and certain of her actions.
