Disappointing. Not as good as the first, story dragged to the point where I got about 3/4 off the way and quit. I just don't understand how the two most interesting characters in book one, get their own story and become... Blah. Moving on to another series....

Well that was a waste of ink & paper ...beyond boring. I felt like I was reading a Nat. Geo article on wolves. Lots and lots and lots of details on pack rules, behavior, etc... by the time you start to get a feel for the story about Silver & Ti (which is very boring & weak) ... you've lost interest. I think in the past 10yrs I've written a review maybe 4 times on PBS so for me to say something is pretty bad. Now I've gotta get rid of the second book in the series that I bought & wont read.

Well... The cover looked good. :-) Unfortunately this is part of several series even though the author says otherwise. I trusted the author (plus the format order of the series, according to her website, looks like a messed up genealogical tree and i just didn't want to fool with trying to decipher how they inter lay and which order i should start with etc. I bring this up because -If I'm going to read a series, I'm going to want to read them in order (I hate being left out.) And I got about 10 pages into the book when i relized that she was trying to make subtle hints about the other minor characters having their own established story, etc. It made me feel like I was missing something. Sounds crazy but it really bothered me to the point were I went order the other books to try and figure out what was going on but I only got more confused, lol. Some people have no problem with reading out of order and if you are one of them then you'll be fine reading this book and will probably like it better than me.
Parts of the story were good, parts were slow. Is it worth reading -sure. Id say on scale of 1 to 10 it was a 7. I'm I going to re-read it no

Susan Krinard is a master story teller. Her books are not your typical formatted romance novels -they are complex in plot and in the characters, with lots of twists and unpredictable surprises a long the way. Very rarely I'm I disappointed by one of her books, so naturally I like this one a lot and thoroughly enjoyed it for all those things I mentioned above. If your a paranormal junkie who enjoies historically based settings, you'll like it. On scale of 1 to 10, I give it an 8.
