Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass (Barnes & Noble Flexibound Editions)
Review Date: 1/2/2023

Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite books! I read it annually, and it never gets old! For me, it is such a comfort read to escape to a new world full of quirky characters and nonsensical things. But, beware the Jabberwock in Through the Looking Glass. Make sure you pack your vorpal sword for the journey.

I read White Fang for the first time when I was a small child, and I read The Call of The Wild as an adult. Both are such fantastic stories of a different time. It is such a unique perspective on history to have it be told through the eyes of a dog. Both of these stories are heartbreaking, heartwarming, sometimes silly, and fantastically well written. There is a good reason why these stories are considered classics.

I was amazed by this book!! I had never read about this aspect of Korean culture before, and it prompted me to do some more research. These women were so strong, and brave. Lisa See did such a fantastic job with this book that I felt like I was really there diving with them. When the hardship struck, it was all the more heartbreaking to read. DEFINITELY have tissues ready! I bawled my eyes out at some of the horrific things they went through.

I honestly bought this book because the cover was so beautiful, and I had never read it before. The first part was kind of slow for me to get through, but it picked up after a few chapters. It isn't what I would call a light or easy read, but I really enjoyed it! The characters are complex and there were many unexpected twists for me. I really enjoyed this book!

I love this book! When I watched this movie for the first time as a child, I remember my toes curling in fear! It became my favorite movie very quickly. Well, the book is so much better!! I was reading one particularly intense scene when my phone vibrated next to me, and well, I almost jumped out of my skin! It was so intense that I couldn't put it down until I finished it! Polished this book off in about 2 days because it was that great!

I really liked this book. It wasn't as good as the Uglies, but it was still pretty good. Some of the lingo in this book can get on your nerves after a while, but if you stick with it the ending is really good. :)

By far, this was my favorite book I read in 2022! Van Gogh has always been one of my favorite artists. His paintings are awe inspiring to me. However, I had never read the story of the woman who truly introduced him to us! Johanna Bonger's perseverance through everything she went through was truly inspiring! For me, and for the character Emsley Wilson who was going through a difficult life change herself. I highly recommend this book!

This wasn't my favorite book from Lisa See, but it was still good. I thought it was interesting how she described the hardships these girls saw in the beginning vs how she described things in the end. It did a very good job of showing how the attitude shifted and how they grew up.

I was really looking forward to reading this book because the summary was so intriguing and it was far outside my genre I usually enjoy. It was... interesting. I can't say I will read it again, and I can't say I will recommend it. However, I did finish it.
I don't mind if a book has "sensitive topics" in it, but I feel like it has to be important to the story. This book had drug use, sex, and foul language that really wasn't important to the book. For that, I won't be reading it again, and I have taken off some stars.

A beautiful story of love, loss, and finding your roots. This book was recommended to me by my best friend, and it certainly did not disappoint! Make sure you have your tissue box nearby because I bawled my eyes out with this book.
