Fantastic Theater: Puppets and Plays for Young Performers and Young Audiences
Review Date: 7/7/2015

Very useful book for anyone working with young performers or young audiences. Good tips on shadow puppetry and rod puppetry. The plays draw from stories from other times and other cultures, and may not hold the interest of modern youngsters as well as modern American stories.

Known more for fiction, Roald Dahl was a great writer period. This autobiographical account of his early adult years in East Africa and in the RAF in WWII is a quick read and an amazing story. Amazing that he survived. A real page-turner.

If you like campy, over-the-top monster movies, you will enjoy this handbook on how to live with (or not) sharknados, mega-pythons, bigfoot, etc. Short chapters filled with dry wit and sarcasm. Fun read.

Indiana Jones & The Fate Of Atlantis
Review Date: 9/12/2012

I requested this book mainly for the cover and chapter art by Dave Dorman, whose art my entire family admires. He did not disappoint. The interior art was quite catching also. The plot was, well, it is Indiana Jones compressed into a comic book, so there are limitations. All in all, a nice addition to my shelf.

Very interesting book, best described as a marine biology/ earth science text book with a science fiction plot. Best part is the artwork, which is wonderful. The plot and dialogue will not win awards but as a vehicle to learn about a lot about life under the sea, they work. Over all, a unique volume that teaches as it entertains.

Tuesdays With Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson (Large Print)

Well-written, gripping, thought-provoking. Excellent quick read.

The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet (Mushroom Planet, Bk 1)
Review Date: 7/26/2012
Helpful Score: 1

This is a classic book for youth, especially boys, but this Little Brown paperback version lacks the wonderful illustrations by Robert Henneberger found in the original versions. Those drawings are important to young readers, but if you are just looking for a copy to read to children or grandchildren, one chapter a night, this paperback is perfect.
