Santa Fe private investigator Joshua Croft is hired to find the lost remains of a Navajo leader and return them to their proper burial site. The bones disappeared over sixty years ago under bizarre circumstances, which, in turn led to a murder that remains very much on somebody's mind.
Croft hits pay dirt when he talks to El Paso's local historian - and revives a sinister mystery complete with greed, adultery and ruthless ambition. A cold trail is turning warm. Then some goons in stocking masks attempt to discourage Croft from anymore digging.
But Croft, a graduate of the school of hard knocks, gives as good as he gets. After a second murder, then a third, a dead man's trail becomes bloodred hot - and Croft stands to be the next one to burn.

At the charity auction, Kristin Chase outbid Wisdom's gossip circle for a date with Zach Davis - the only man she'd ever loved. She told herself she pitied him, standing on that stage and facing the leering crowd.
No, he had no effect on her whatsoever, not even when he came to her rescue as her livlihood went up in smoke - or now, the way he whisked her to his beach house and made hot love to her under a starry sky...

"She soon regretted her careless words. In anger, Lynn had called the dark Gypsy stranger 'one of the dregs of society.' Much to her horror, this had provoked him to bodily kidnap her. The final blow had come after their Gypsy wedding. But she was powerless to escape: the Gypsies watched her by day, and Rad kept her imprisoned - in his arms - by night. He told her nothing of himself or his life, but Lynn began to understand his enigmatic, almost dual personality - and the gentle, aristocratic half attracted her very much... "

Classically cute, funny, and flirty. A heartwarming story with endearing characters. I wouldn't mind finding something like what Sarah finds under her couch in my own house! Read it to find out! :)

The war in Europe seems far away in this city of fallen grandeur, where two sisters, Tatiana and Dasha Metanova, share a cramped apartment with their brother and parents. And while life under Stalin has been harsh, deprivation unlike anything they have imagined is yet to come, for Hitler's armies are about to invade their beloved homeland.
But amid the terror and hardship lie beauty and hope when Tatiana meets Alexander, a young Red Army officer. Confident and daring, he is also a man with a mysterious past and a terrifying secret.
As the relentless winter and the German army's blockade grip the city, Tatiana and Alexander are drawn to each other in an impossible love that could tear her family apart and reveal his dangerous secret -- a secret as destructive as the war itself. Caught between two deadly forces, the lovers are swept up in a tide of history that will change them -- and the world -- forever...

He was obstinate, rude, primative - and the most dangerously attractive man Megan Jonas had ever met. From their first explosive encounter rugged farmer Alan McDonald had peeled away her sophisticated businesswoman's veneer, had penetrated her cool self-confidence, and provoked the hellcat beneath. What he wanted, he got - one way or another - and he'd made it perfectly clear that he'd play her game to win. Suddenly Megan found her passionate challenge. She wanted to tame this man, to make him quiver at her touch, to earn her slightest embrace. But she hadn't reckoned on her treacherous heart - and a lover determined to possess her, body and soul!

I just finished this book and am still not certain how I feel about it. At first it was a bit difficult to follow, though well-written. It was really rather depressing as the main character had no grand effect in life and seemed to only bring misery to those with whom he was involved.
