This is the book that "ties up" the activities of ridding Pern of the Thread. AIVIS, the artificial intelligence that ran the colony ships that took the original settlers to Pern was found in a previous book and over the several thousand or so years since Landing has finally figured out how to stop Thread-fall from devasting Pern and this is the adventures leading up to that occurance. It has all our favourites from previous books and even introduces one or two new ones.
For all followers and fans of Pern this is a MUST READ.

a nice book, with a landbound "Bermuda Triangle" location and what happens to those who are caught by the effect. Andre's stories are usually fast paced and lively. Would be a good read for anyone with, say, a grade 8 and above reading ability.

This is a coming-of-age story set in the far future. The main characters are a boy and girl who live on a space ship that had started life as a colony transport taking people from Earth to their new homes. Earth has been pretty much destroyed by over-population in this future, so the one rule that the people on the space ship live by is "population control." They trade their knowledge and the history from Earth to the various colony worlds for things that they need (foodstuffs, fabrics, etc.)
In order to be considered an adult and allowed to remain on the Ship, you must pass the titular "Rite of Passage." The story deals with our mc's training and preparation for (and then survival of) that Rite.
Excellent story with many thought provoking ideas.

this is frankly a "tie up the loose ends" book. The mystery is almost non-existant, and Lady Elizabeth just desides on her own that there IS a mystery for no reason that is really appearant to anyone else. It wasn't the best in the series, but at least it does let you know what happens to our favourite characters from the series.
