Apparently, I misread the reviews on this book. Even after reading the first few essays I found that the content of this book was not interesting or entertaining.

As a recent Master Gardener graduate I wanted a more in depth understanding of botany without resorting to a text book. This book fit that requirement perfectly. The book reads like a story beginning with the basics of plant physiology and winding up with genetics. Concepts were clearly defined and illustrated including the scientific terms (defined in context as well as in the glossary) without being overstated. I plan to keep this book and add it to my reference library.

If it hadn't been for this book I never would have considered building my house myself. This book is well written in clear and concise language without all the industry jargon. The layout is easy to follow and includes interviews with relevant professionals and handy to do lists. I recommend this highly to anyone - not just a smart woman - who is considering building their own house.
