This was a very warm, sensitive book recounting the life of a new widow and her move to a new town very soon after she loses her husband. She develops many interesting relationships as she works her way through her grief.-----------Disregard this---should be on A Year of Pleasures.

This is a great reference book for childbirth educators or people interested in the history of prepared childbirth. Dr.Chabon was a pioneer in introducing psychoprophylaxis to childbirth.

This is the 3rd in a series about a yarn/knitting shop in Washington. The characters are the same with the addition of a new one.The author also includes 2 patterns for a project that is mentioned in the book. The characters support each other through many trials and life changes. This author cannot write the next installment fast enough.I want to visit A Good Yarn!

This story centers around a young attorney that is forced into bed rest while pregnant with her first child. The bed rest gives her time to consider motherhood, her marriage, her relationships with her mom and sisters and her place in the world as she becomes a mother. Many insights into the needs of someone on bed rest and professionals examining their impending parenthood.

Was made into a movie. Story of a daughter receiving attention from her dad at the expense of her coming-of-age brother. Very interesting regarding the relationship of the daughter-father.

When I started this book,I wasn't too impressed the first chapter.Quickly,Jen Lancaster brings you into her style of writing.I even loved the footnotes!! This is her story as she is laid off from a high-paying job. By the end of the book, I couldn't wait for the next installment. Can't wait to visit her blog!

Not my book but my husband's. He said it was one of the best books he's ever read. He has since read everything these authors have written and waits at the bookstore for their new releases.

This is such a moving book about a child that lives in horrific abuse. It is amazing how a child can survive such conditions. It also is a story of strength and courage.

A very good read centered in Ireland. Story of a young woman coming of age and her first love. I loved the book more than the movie.

This book is the story of a wife,Maria, who finds a diary in the mail from her husband's mistress(?maybe?). The style of writing was very simplistic and 'street slang'.I felt like I was reading a script for a young soap-opera.Won't be looking for any more of this author's books.

This book would almost read like a history book now. It is the story of a woman who starts a relationship via e-mail.I read it in the mid 1990's and thought it was very interesting regarding the internet age. I think it would be a hoot to reread it now in light of Ipods, Iphones, and MySpace.

This book is the story of a women's group formed in a knitting store. Not a lot of knitting gets done but they become a wonderful support group for each other. There are many sub-plots withing the story regarding each character. There were hilarious moments as well as touching moments. You do not have to be a knitter to enjoy this story.

The first of 3 in a series that focus on a women's group in a church that form and become great support for the members. I felt like I knew these women well by the end of the series. The author writes a column in our newspaper and she writes well from a woman's view.

Another page-turner by Picoult. This story follows a family that is raising their daughter with osteogenisis imperfecta. The child's mother struggles with raising this child and the constant pain associated with the disorder. She decides to sue the delivering obstetrician for 'wrongful birth' of the child. The main problem with this law suit is that the obstetrician is her best friend. Picoult write the book through the eyes of all involved parties as they address the child with the disorder. As usual, a sudden turn of events within the last pages.....I loved the book!!!

One of the most enjoyable reads I've read in a long time. It starts out with a bang and doesn't stop.

The beginning of a series about 4 women that form an impromptu 'support group'.They develop great friendships and solve each other's problems. Women over the age of 35 will relate to the characters.I wish we had a local 'Hot Flash Club'!!

Very cute.We revisit the Hot Flash Club as they go through a whole year of holidays. A light, fun read. I feel like I'm part of the club by now since I've read 3 of the books.

A story of 2 sisters that have a long history. One of the sisters goes to live with her grandmother in Florida at a retirement village. There are many funny moments but also very poignant ones regarding how families evolve even when there are some hidden family facts. Way better than the movie.
