The sub-title of this book is "Priestly Reflections On Medjugorje".
Tens of thousands of priests and bishops have traveled to Medjugorje. This book was written by 84 of them. It represents their personal viewpoints, and is not presented as Church Doctrine. However, thier views are vital.

This seems to be a British comedy of manners, as they used to say. It is much stronger than that, with surprisingly poignant themes and a very rich narrative style that's easy to read. I loved it.

The Seven Storey Mountain is one of the greatest spiritual classics of our time. Here is an extraordinary testament of an intensely active and brilliant young man who decided to withdraw from the world only after he had fully immersed himself in it. At the age of 26 Thomas Merton entered a Trappist monastery.

For anyone who's world was changed by MacArthur's Park, or Galveston, or Carpet Man, or Highwayman, or countless other Webb songs; or hooked by the innumerable artists who covered his songs or did whole albums of his material (like Richard Harris, The Fifth Dimension, Linda Ronstad, Sinatra, and most recently Michael Feinstein and his exquisite "Only One Life" CD); this book is all about the art of song writing, and a lot about Jimmy himself. In a few words: a pure delight.

Allen is a pain in the butt sometimes, pushing his character shtick too far, but nobody makes movies like he does. His feel for New York life is dead-on, and his characters are more human than anybody else in movies.
And finally, who is as original as Woody? This book was a tremendous example of boigraphy at it's best.
