I lived in the area of California where the book takes place, so I found that interesting. I enjoyed the book...a bit of a lighter crime drama type read.

I wanted to like this book. I enjoy Barbara Delinsky's writing, but this one just didn't do it for me. The premise was interesting, but the surrounding situations seemed very contrived...there were too many subplots for such a short book. It was a quick and easy read, but somewhat of a let down.

Disturbing and provocative on so many levels. Introduced me to a completely foreign world. The only downside was the ending left me wanting to know what happened next. This is the author's debut novel and it's incredible...I think we'll see some incredible stories from her.

Not one of Picoult's better novels, but a decent read. I found this book a little difficult to get in to at first. It did keep my interest eventually, but I found parts of the story implausible. It was a very odd assortment of characters that just didn't quite gel. But, Picoult is a fabulous story teller so it was readable.

Loved it! Finished in record time because I couldn't put it down! The writing style was really unique - there were many psychological references that were really interesting (and I'm not typically interested in that type of thing) and really added to the context of the story. It ended slightly abruptly with some loose ends. I can totally imagine another story with the main character that could stand completely alone and apart from the plot of this story. Definitely recommend!

I enjoyed the story much more at the beginning than at the end. But it was a good story. I felt sorry for the main character, Betta, but not for the obvious reason - that she was a grieving widow. She describes losing someone you love as losing a part of yourself...but, to me, it seemed that she had lost herself long before her husband passed away.

loved it! I had a hard time with some of the language in a few places, but overall it was a wonderful book.
