I found this book entrancing. Barbara Kingsolver has a wonderful, magical way with words. I love being caught up in the story and having it so well written!

I enjoyed this book. It was very much in the British humor-type. An obvious satire of corporate life, with likable characters. I don't think I can say too much without giving a lot of it away, so I'll just say that the idea of a company without customers is priceless!

While at times this feels just a tad bit dated, the characters are wonderfully written and feel very much alive.

This is of the classic adventure genre. Many obstacles, some unforseen, others, well, should have been anticipated. There's a mix of historical information about the Nile region and the people who live there, as well as other expeditions that have gone before.
There were also snippets of other adventures -- mountaineering, boating -- as well. At times, I found the writing a bit stilted, but overall it held my attention. I actually found the last 1/3 of the book to be the most interesting.

I found this to be a very engrossing book. I really could not put it down. She did a wonderful job of capturing the emotions of dysfunctional but loving families.
