This book is a very good fictional book that packs a lot of details from the time period. The author really puts you in the life of Cora Cash and you really feel like you grow with her throughout the book. I thought it was very interesting and compelling and I was never bored. The characters keep you on your toes, however, there are a couple parts that are a bit predictable at the end.

This book is so crazy. If you're thinking about reading it be prepared to see some crazy twists and turns. It's a good book & it held my attention after I got through the first third of the book. Stick with it, I think you'll be surprised!

This book was somewhat interesting in the beginning and I mainly read it just for the story of how the bust went down. However, the last 30-40 pages of the book are all about Marvin Zindler and his life before closing down the Chicken Ranch. So the last almost half of the book was pretty boring. There was a decent amount of profanity so beware! I feel like the actual act of closing the Chicken Ranch down could have been more detailed as well.

I have a love/hate relationship with this book. First, the way the book is formatted kind of makes it confusing. Each chapter is from the perspective of a character and some chapters are real short, others are long. This makes the book choppy in areas and I feel like it disrupts some important parts.
Second, I have a problem with Anna's parents. I can somewhat understand where they are coming from but when their daughter is born as a "spare parts baby" it turned me off.
The ending really shocked me. I was not expecting it. Overall it's a decent read. I wish I would have read the book a long time ago before the movie came out.

I think this book is an amazing book for young people who are in their walk with Christ and are in their "single" season. I'm 21 and I felt like this book really applied to my life, I feel like it could apply to anyone's life from high school age to their twenties. If I was a parent I would encourage my high school aged kid to read this. There is so much pressure on this generation to have sex and not cherish purity and this book really emphasizes the importance of being pure and letting God take control of your love life.
