I couldn't read past page 8. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

I could not force myself to read past the first 60 pages, and it took me three days to get that far. Verghese's prose is long-winded and tedious, and my mind kept wondering away from the text in front of me. I really doubt I'll be able to read anything else from this author.

I've never been a fan of Westerns, but this is now one of my most favorite books of all time. This novel, with its varied cast of characters, speaks for itself. Go read it now.

Didn't like this book. I felt like I started reading Chapter 1 in the middle of a story. I found myself skipping huge chunks of the story because I just couldn't get into it. I didn't read past Chapter 1.
