At first, when I saw it was 544 pages, I wondered if it would hold my interest. I had at one time been a business and financial news reporter for a major daily prior to when this took place so I plunged in. It is a fascinating account where millions are thrown about like dollar bills. So yes, it was worth the read.

This book is a fun read, even if you are not blonde. Kristin Harmel write tightly and with a fast pace. While it would be a perfect summer-by-the-pool choice, I enjoyed it even in the dead of winter!!

I have been a John Grisham fan for years. I liked this book better than his second in this series Camino Winds but not one of my favorites. Was a quick read however.

James Michener is a writer's writer. He weaves history fact and fiction into his books. I began the book before a cruise but did not get it finished until I returned home - it is more than 800 pages long. Each chapter, however is separate yet ties into the whole. Visiting Panama and the town of Portobella, I had a greater appreciation of the history of the place.

A delightful tale. True? Who knows?? But Homer Hickman never fails to spin a yarn that just could be. Thanks, Homer, for another heartwarming story. Just what is needed in these times ... a story with a happy ending.

This book should be required reading in all high schools. A wonderful autobiography by a woman whose life ended much too soon. An unsung hero of the civil rights movement.

I have recently begun reading the late May Sarton. Don't remember who put me on to her but really really enjoy her works. This one I picked up to read while my husband was at a doctor appointment. Finished it in one day. Very good. Not quite ready to tackle her book At Seventy as it is a much longer read but am sure I will soon.

One of the most comprehensive history of the US books I have ever read. It should be required reading in high schools and colleges. Unfortunately Ronald Takaki has passed. I would have loved to have studied with him.

Delightful light-hearted story of how life wasn't quite as simple as one might have heard.

A very interesting historical fiction. Recommending to my book club. Having heard of leprosy in biblical stories i was amazed to learn it was still an illness at the time covered in the book. Well worth reading.

A wonderful real life story of young boys and girls learning at a high school in Denver Colorado to become residents of the United States. It is heart warming and touching to hear of the horrors they have lived thru in their young lives. Their bravery and that of their families is to be commended. Thru it one can imagine what our own ancestors went thru when they immigrated.

Excellent and unbiased history of the court mostly in the mid to late 20th Century and early 21st Century. Written and published in 2007, it nonetheless provides a wonderful look and those who served and their decisions. Throughly enjoyable read.

Author Lisa See takes her readers on a fascinating journey into the lives and history of her family and its journey in the United States and China. It is a sometimes revealing look at the harsh treatment endured by this unique family. The book also celebrates the joys they shared.

If you have ever dreamed of getting away from it all to a tropical island, this is the book for you!! The authorrefers to the book as a novel but I found it to be more a personal account of his adventure on an island off Belieze. I traveled to Belieze earlier this year and that is what interested me in reading his book. Wish I had read it before I went. I would have tried to find his "paradise." What a great adventure he and those with him had. He sounds like the kind of a person I would love to get to know!! The book is an interesting read.

When I first picked up this book, mu husband thought I was a bit of a nut. Why, he asked, would you want to read a book about Brigham Young's 27th wife. I didn't know myself but thought it was a bit different than what I usually read. To make a long story short, it is a very interesting book that provides a history of the Mormon church and the founding of the territory of Utah. It also looks at the lives of some pretty interesting people. It was a good read.

If you lived through Vietnam, you should read this book! This is one of the best books I have read. Beside the fact that Nelson Demille is one of my favoriet writers, this one captures so much of that era and how it affects today those who fought there.
