Three books in one volume. Carlucci is the detective in a future San Francisco filled with dark alleys, body technology and corruption. The atmosphere is mesmerizing.
If you loved Blade Runner, try Carlucci.

An oldie but a goodie. This book spans the lives of two generations of women and how they survived addictions, abuse and societies expectations. It is filled with drama, pain, and most of all, profound love. The story will stay with you.

Original and entertaining. A real twist on the fantasy/mystery idea. What if a beloved literary character were kidnapped? All the copies of that book would be affected. Thursday Next's task is finding Jane Eyre putting the story to rights. After all, she's a Literary Detective.
Try this one and you'll want to read the rest of the series, too!

I had a lot of this series, but was missing a few volumes. PaperBackSwap members help me complete the Elizabeth George shelf! Now I'm re-reading.
Her core group of characters is compelling and is intertwined with the mysteries to be solved. I want to know them and their interrelationships, what happens next and why.
Great plots, characters and pacing. I recommend them to anyone who likes more complex and intelligent mysteries.

I think this is the best of Jodi Picoult's books. A newborn baby's body is found on an Amish farm. What happened?
Picoult writes characters that mysteries happen to. Compelling.

Richard North Patterson writes fast paced murder/legal thrillers. The Kerry Kilcannon novels are fun beach reads.

This author writes deeply emotional and sometimes disturbing stories about his native Afghanistan. Kite Runner was my first experience of his books. This one is just as memorable.
I recommend this for readers who are open to other cultures and willing to learn more about themselves through others.
