This fabulous book not only inspires those in education to strive for more student growth, but it details how one district achieved it. I've been in education for over 30 years, and this book made "data-driven" education take on more meaning than I've ever realized before. It would be a wonderful book study for a group of educators - don't forget the school board, admin, teachers...

A delightful story of a story of wonderful, real people. I could hardly wait to read the next book in the Mitford series.

A fabulous reminder that once you hit middle age, it doesn't have to be a downhill slide.

Life as seen through the eyes of a six-year-old narrator. We all too often forget how our words or actions are perceived by those around us.

This series started slow, but once into it, the characters are likeable and it's a good read. It's also a quick read.

It was heart-warming to read about this great group of friends, and it made me appreciate my own circle of friends even more.

I've never enjoyed a book of letters as much as this one. Usually I don't care for that format. It made it easy to get to know the characters - who they were, what kind of people they were, how they thought, spoke, etc. Couldn't put it down!

Fast-paced and funny. Great Southern humor.

Wonderfully witty short chapters on topics ranging from exercise, remote controls, golf, sweat pants and bathing suits. Uplifting and spirited!

Great mystery. I didn't appreciate the violence of the death, but that aspect was not dwelt on as the mystery was solved.

After reading many educationese titles, this one was a joy! The reasoning and suggestions were soundly supported as well as being concise and clear. In only a little more than 100 pages, enough information to transform grading systems is clearly laid out.

My only complaint about this book is that it was too short. I wanted more... The writing made cooking seem almost sensuous. I wanted to be part of this group. I wanted to learn what they were learning. I wanted even more detail. The book is wonderful.

Great characters, vividly drawn. Grandma Rose's advise is not just for her family members. Readers can't help but gain from the examples of acceptance, caring and wisdom.
