Excellent story of a man's rise from "poor white trash" and his experiences along the way. I like the way he is able to view his life - the terrible and the good - and make his choices. He doesn't abandon his past, but learns to accept it as part of who he is. He discovers that even his difficult childhood is worlds better than some he sees in his life as a reporter. I've recommended this book to many friends and family.

I'm a Sebold fan, but this book was strange. Good plot, good story, but I had a hard time getting into the characters. I was absorbed by it, but when I finished, it just left me a little unsatisfied.

A book that draws you into the lives of the two main characters. Decent people, but in a marriage that should never have been. Another good story from Tyler.

Tyler is quickly becoming one of my favorites. This is good story of differences and how people deal with them. A book of varied emotions, and well worth the time.
