Jerry Mitchell always wanted to be a pilot. When a terrible flying accident cost him his ability to fly, he pulled some strings to get transferred into submarines. He gets assigned to the USS Memphis, which was scheduled to be decommissioned. But it turns out that the Memphis was given a special assignment by the President, taking on a couple of female scientists and looking for unreported nuclear waste off the coast of Russia.

Good story line but way too much sex. This is like a guy's perfect dream; even George Clooney doesn't get hit on this much.

Maxwell Street Blues (Paul Whelan, Bk 3) (Audio CD) (Unabridged)
Review Date: 10/20/2017

What better way to get your summer "read on" than with Michael Raleigh's Maxwell Street Blues? Grab a beer, head for the beach, the back porch or deck and have at it! Raleigh's work is a fast read that follows detective Paul Whelan as he investigates the murder of a Maxwell Street peddler. For anyone who frequented the "old" Maxwell Street market, this book's a delight. You can smell the onions on the grill as Detective Whelan serves up an authentically written and diverse Chicago. Old feuds, Chicago's historic jazz scene, interracial romance and slickters trying to "outslick the slick" are no match for detective Whelan. As Whelan unravels the peddler's past, Raleigh introduces neighborhoods and characters that are sure to intrigue the reader.

The Neighbor (D. D. Warren, Bk 3) (Audio CD) (Abridged)
Review Date: 8/23/2016

I listen to the audio cd's during my commute. This is the first time I could not wait until tomorrow's drive to see what happened and brought the remaining 2 cd's inside to listen.
That's how gripping the suspense was.

But, as others have said, the resolution is, well, unresolved. It was like working on a piece of art for days and then being told you have to finish it in 5 minutes. So you throw some paint on the canvas, letting it splatter wherever, and then say it's done.

Leaves one staring at the cd player, saying "Huh?"

Too much sex, too little plot. And who enjoys a romantic hero who is abusive?

This book is very X rated. Do not listen in the company of children, your parents, people you don't know well and perhaps, even those you do.
I quit after the second disc; I was cringing so much I couldn't drive.

I rarely write a review on any of the audiobooks that keep me company during my daily commute. This one is different.

Great plot, read easily so you don't notice the voice (for those of you who frequent audios, you know what I mean) and it flows so easily. It's a long book - 12 discs - but kept me involved the whole time.

One of the best I've come across; already ordered another by the same author.
