A well written, frightening story. Not the kind of frightening that will keep you up at night, but enough to keep you reading. Written in 19th century "language", you really feel transported back to a different time. This was our book club's October read; we found all sorts of things to talk about!

Loved the character development. It was a good story--what I thought was going to be predictable--wasn't!

I really enjoyed this book. Wonderful characters, some humor, a love story and a history lesson of post WWII in England, all revealed through letters! I give it 5 stars!

I know a lot of people love this series but have no desire to continue with the whole series. The book is written well, it is suspenseful, and I wanted to finish just to see how it turned out, but I found it too disturbing to continue the series.

The scrapbooker in me just had to read this book! It is a fun quick read, nothing too deep here! I'll continue with the series, it will be good when I'm in the mood for something light.

A great historical fiction book about the beginning of the Civil War. I'll be ordering the next book in the series.

After River God, I couldn't wait to start this book. Just love the way Wilbur Smith writes. So descriptive and action packed!
