Very very good book. A real page turner...I didn't want to put the book down. My only complaint is one reference to sex. Because of this reference I won't let my thirteen yr old son read it otherwise I think it's appropriate for fifteen and up.

I read this book years ago and gave it an excellent review. But for some reason I didn't post the book so I decided to read it again and then post the book. Second time reading it and I couldn't put the book down. Read it in one day! I will be posting it because the book should be read instead of sitting on my shelf.

I didn't want the story to end. I think this is the author's best novel yet.

This book is so good that you won't want to put it down but the writing leaves you overwhelmed at times and you are forced to sit back, take a deep breath and think "what would I do" "what would my family do". Very good story line involving love, family, ethics with a title that is so appropriate because you won't be the same person afterward.

Remarkable inspiring true story of a young boy's journey and how his hard work paid off. The book left off as he was entering college on a scholarship. I'd love to find a sequel.

Well written story that keeps moving along making it impossible to put down. Melinda is eighteen when her dad dies and she volunteers for the Red Cross. Her journey begins taking care of those in the coal mines of the Cumberland Gap and proceeds to Spain, Italy and back to America. She marries, adopts two children because they need her and lives a life of putting everyone ahead of herself.

Laugh out loud funny. This is my first book by this author and it leaves me wanting to read more by Garrison Keillor.

I'm in the minority here but I couldn't finish this book. I would have enjoyed the story line but I didn't feel like reading the crudeness anymore.

Mixed review on this book. Had potential until the book strayed a bit. Was throwing in the one night stand really necessary? What age group was this written for?

If this book is accurate then it's just sick what people will do for money and power.

My son and I loved this cute book. Family, neighbors, birds and helping one another.
