I read this book when I was in the 4th grade. One day I remembered it and wanted to read it. Although it was juvenile in nature, I enjoyed reading about Ooka and how wise he was. Worth reading for a youngster for sure.

As always, Meltzer delivers an engaging plot with multiple layers. Throughout the book you will be guessing who the assassin is an like me, you will probably change your mind a few times. The Culper Ring figures prominently in this story and the tension between them and the President will definitely keep you wondering how it will all end. I recommend the book to any one who enjoys a good "whodunit" and has a conspiracy theorist mentality.

This book was fun in an old fashioned way. There wasn't a host of complex characters or complicated story lines but it was charming and amusing and will be a gentle distraction for you if you are not looking for a deeply immersible reading experience.
