The connection between Eragon and Saphra, his dragon, makes this book worth reading. The random scenes of no particular importance make the book rather uninteresting and the shabby attempt to describe falling in love and being in love truly shows this author as a boy of fifteen. Christopher Paolini doesn't know the first thing about medieval mentality and fails completely as a Tolkien wanna-be. Still, this book has some merit. It's worth reading once, but does not compel me to read the other two in the series.

This book is my favorite of all Lowry's novels. Poler opposite society from what the reader saw in the Giver. Gathering Blue is a sequel to The Giver.

Lois Lowry is one of the greatest story-teller that will ever be. The Giver explores the beauty and limitations of a controlled utopian society. Sacrifices must be made and many things that were once rejoiced must be forgotten, but if no one remembers that such things ever existed, does it matter in the end?

An interesting tale with a blend of English superstition and Chinese traditions. This is a story about a young boy's revenge against the total destruction of his village and the odd characters he meets along the way. This would be placed under the category of 'library book' for me as it is a decent, easy read yet I have no desire to read it again.

One of the few Holocaust book I've read featuring the perspective of a child who is not Jewish herself. The heroine must try to understand the violence happening all around her while at the same time help her family to protect the persecuted. Like all of Lowry's books, Number of the Stars is subtle yet deeply meaningful.

I love how no one thinks it's wrong for a middle school girl to be in love with her teacher and spy on him while he is changing. Furthermore there really isn't a plot. It's just shape-shifters mixed with inappropriate romance.
