A historical novel (turn of the 20th century NYC) and a great cast of characters on the hunt for a serial killer. Amazing depth of understanding in the early field of psychology and forensics. I loved every minute of this book!!!

If you love Steven Pressfield's books on how to be a writer/creator, you will like this. But it is not as good as his War of Art and Turning Pro books. This feels a little more forced and lot more esoteric. But, again, if you like his books, he does make some good points here - so worth a quick read.

This wasn't the best book I've read in this genre. That said, it was a quick read and a sick and fascinating look into the mind of a serial killer. Good book when you just want to be entertained.

I think King's best format is short story. And this collection was incredible. He writes in an unpretentious way but the "plainness" of it brings the characters and their circumstances to life. There are times when you'll feel queasy during these stories. Fantastic collection of short stories.

Phenomenal book. Just have to wrap your head around that its written from the perspective of a young child. And while challenging, at times, it's highly illuminating. Hundreds of thousands of people go missing around the world, this is a harrowing glimpse inside of what an ordeal like that might be like and how the people survive both during and, if they are lucky, after.

Though I am turned off by Koontz's seeming need to win some kind of vocabulary test...this story is terrifying. A mix of sci-fi and ancient story - it's extremely interesting. Just bring your thesaurus.

Though I'm not a devoutly religious person, myself, I still found this perspective on the way we eat and treat out bodies to be extremely enlighting for me. The absolute simplicity of the concept of eating only when hungry and stopping when moderately full really does take a faith in something other than your own obsession with food. And I should know, I've been obsessed with food my whole life. Religious or no, this is a must read.
