Ryan Dobson does an excellent job of defining and refuting moral relativism. Spoken with love yet firmness, he helps the reader to see the error in thinking of the moral relativist. His boldness is refreshing. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who wants to understand moral relativism and how, at its core, it is not logical.

I am a conservative, born-again, follower of Jesus, Christian mother of 8 (four sons) that has homeschooled the last 20 years. I currently use Sonlight Curriculum with modifications. Sonlight Curriculum added this book to its 2008-2009 Science selection. It is in the 2009-2010 catalog as well. I am writing this review because I want to warn other Christians of some specifics about this book that I found disappointing, if not disturbing. I will list 3 specific items that convinced me not to hand this book over to our Sonlight 5 student.
1. pg 76 "Some boys are raised by a single parent, grandparents, two moms, two dads, in foster families, blended families, by aunts and uncles, and combinations of the above." An opportunity to teach what the Bible says about family and marriage.
2. pg 82 "If you and your parents are constantly fighting about rules in the house, ask for more details about their expectations." We do not "fight" with our children.
3. pg 99 When discussing what to do with "out of control feelings", the author states, "If you're at home and can't get away and do anything else, sometimes just yelling into a pillow will work wonders!" What does the Bible teach about handling anger - certainly not to yell into a pillow.
I have a problem with each of these statements the author makes. This book is a good example of why we, as parents, need to preread the material our children are expected to read as part of any curriculum program. I would hope that the Sonlight curriculum developers have notes in the teacher's manual on these specific pages in this book, and that parents using Sonlight wouldn't just hand this book to their child to read without discussing these issues.
Other than the above statements that are troublesome, the majority of the book covers simple physical topics. Most of the contents are common sense issues that are usually discussed with a son anyway (i.e. body odor as they mature). Where the books deviates from what we would tell our sons is when it delves into the emotional areas. There it becomes offensive to us.

Sickening view of God. Definately not Biblical theology, but warped view of some other god (small g). Why do people try to make up some other god? The God of the Bible is a loving, personal God who wants a personal relationship with you as detailed in His word. My prayer is that people will find God - the real God, and not some made-up fake that brings no lasting peace and joy. My recommendation is to avoid this author.

Strongly New Age. Not a Christian book. Content is very offensive to this Bible-believing, follower of Jesus.

A fictional story/conversation of what Revelation 3:20 might look like in a real, literal setting. A short, 100 page, book that is an easy read. Very tastefully done, profound, and reflective. Brief highlights include: there is no "path" to God, illustration of God's righteousness, the free gift of salvation, and Revelation 3:20. We will use it as a read-aloud or reader in our homeschool. Highly recommended.

This book is Mormon, but the description doesn't state this fact. It should.

Horrible. This is not original writing by Andrew Murray. It is an abridged/modified version that is not true to the original.

So sad that this book is entitled, The Maker's Diet. The science just isn't here. Try reading a book backed by science entitled, The China Study. Excellent book!

I enjoyed reading these 12 stories. From the perspective of a young boy/cow hand. Stories include:
Suicidal Heifer, It Don't Take Much Dynamite to Blow Up an Outhouse, Revenge at the Girls' Latrine, Gastronomical Endeavors, Old Tom was a Good Old Cat, Things that go Bump and Hiss in the Night, Cuddles Goes Blind, Rutherford the Blind Mule, Bifocals and Store-Bought Teeth, A Bronc in the Clothesline, Good Help is Hard to Find, and A Snake in the Bathtub.
The only reasons I gave this a 3 start instead of 4 or 5 is due to the lack of loving relationships in the family. The incidents were funny, but the lack of love wasn't.

Excellent! It seemed a little slow in the beginning as the author so cleverly gave very descriptive setting, character and situation details. However, as I continued, totally drawn in by the details, I was soon unable to dismiss the story during the day. Mr. Cramer is an excellent writer. I am amazed at all the interweaving of lives, details and "messages". It is nice that he included some discussion questions at the end of the book. They made me think and apply more of what I read. WE ARE THE ARMS OF GOD.
Thanks, Mr. Cramer!

EXCELLENT! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is curious about the popularity of the Twilight books. It gives history of this type of writing as well as underlying themes, Mormon based theology themes, Christian viewpoint, and much more. It was very helpful in giving the information I needed to be able to have a dialog with someone who has read the series. I would recommend it to anyone who has a child who wants to read the books. In my opinion, this book is definately not for teenagers. Make your own decision after reading this excellent book.
