This book makes you feel as though you are with the author in Haiti. The author is very good at making you feel the emotions of the main character. While the end is not nicely tied up neatly like some stories, the fact it is real life and not fiction sometimes doesn't really have an ending, as such. Life continues ...

This is an example of people fearing what they don't understand. If they had just used some common sense or reasoning, they would have known that is the people they targeted were indeed witches, capable of doing the things they accused them of, the witches would have gotten themselves out of the trials and not be burned to death or hanged. This was an interesting look at how completely innocent people can be targeted and punished when only a few people are in charge without any other controls with which to balance the situation, even when some of the "punishers" were themselves not meaning to be evil but just doing what they thought had to be done. zest4bks

A humorous but meaningful wonderful little book to meditate on or in which to enjoy a laugh. Best when read in segments on different days. A great little gift book. Zest4bks

Flying changes, the sequel to Riding lessons is just as good as the first book, which is unusual much of the time. Several things happening throughout, making you not want to put the book down until it was finished. Loved it. One of my favorite books of the year.

It was interesting how "a short history of tractors in Ukrainian" ended up being the title of this book that was about human nature. Interesting little story that keeps you interested.

Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer was written in the same great style of Grisham's mysteries for adults. I was impressed with the amount of knowledge kids can learn by reading this "fun" mystery book. Not only did was there information about the legal system but about government and life's values. I will definitely be adding any more kid books by Grisham to my list, first for me to read and then to give to my grandchildren.

Very informative and interesting book. Keep my interest as much as a fiction book would while learning a lot of history of the U.S.
