Very different tone than the Anna Pigeon series. Some pretty graphic violence, but a good - if at times confusing - story. I am glad I stuck with it, as it all came together in the end.

As with all the books in the series, I loved this one too. Unfortunatley, it reads like it may be the last of the series - that would be a real shame. I like to escape to Botswana for an easy read, a good adventure, and to visit with old friends at the #1 Ladies Detective Agency.

This was not my favorite of the series, but none the less it was a good read. I simply love the way McCall Smith writes and the little touches of wisdom he endows Precious with.

Although I like the author's writing style, the dog in this series doesn't add anything to the plot and is entirely unrealistic as a police dog. If you like stories with a dog as a real character read the Chet and Bernie series by Spence Quinn. They are a great good read.
