Big disappointment. This is not my favorite series of hers but this was worse than the rest. Little plot, little action. Pretty much hard core porn without the pictures.

I enjoyed reading this book and it was a well-told story. I do not like the inconsistencies between the Bible story and the author's story. There are things that are off for no reason at all, but that seems to be typical of all authors when they do fiction based on Bible stories.

It's incredible that a child could live through what he experienced. David's strong spirit and his continued "hope" helped him survive. He just would not let his mother win.

The only problem I had with the book was that the ending was awful. It jumps from him still at home and under mothers control then all of a sudden, he's an adult remembering and visiting his old home. What happened? How did he get out of that situation? So many questions left to the imagination.

I love this book. Maybe it's the rich girl findng love in with the poor guy. Maybe it's seeing right win in the end. Maybe it's the home Sabrina made in the country with Derek. Could be the working out of major family problems. Whatever, it is a great read and I've reread it many, many times.

Very interesting read. Everyone should read this book if there is any chance that they would ever be a patient - that means everyone. It helps you understand that doctors are human and have all the falibilities that everyone else has. Doctors can make mistakes just like everyone else, unfortunately, those mistakes can have serious consequences. The scariest part of the book is when he talks about how bad doctors are a policing other doctors who are making serious mistakes on a routine basis. This has always been the serious downside of medicine and no one has come up with a solution to this problem yet. The stories he tells are very interesting.

Crisis in the Red Zone: The Story of the Deadliest Ebola Outbreak in History, and of the Viruses to Come
Review Date: 11/9/2022

Excellent book. Very readable in spite of it's medical subject. The author explains any technical terms immediately in the text and describes the situation thoroughly. It's very hard to read about the circumstances in the hospitals in the areas where Ebola was centered. No one was prepared for the outbreak and I certainly hope the world is better prepared today.

I'm sure most of us have heard and seen Anderson Cooper, but this book is an insight into the person behind the public face. He does an excellent job weaving stories of tragedies he views and reports on with the tragedies in his personal life - losing his father at an early age and the suicide of his brother. He tells of how a reporter in many ways divorces himself from the scenes yet on an inner level feels and reacts in ways that may come out later. I highly recommend this book to anyone who still sees humanity in this world where we see so much that we sometimes overlook the individuals involved.

I really enjoyed this book. I would agree with what another reviewer said, "ignore the vine review." "The End of October" tells the story of a new virus that begins in a refugee camp in Indonesia. It is told from the viewpoint of a doctor who works for the CDC who identifies the disease when it is about to get swept under the rug by the Indonesian government. It does include medical "jargon" but not to the degree that one can't understand what they are talking about. The story is frightening in telling what could happen with an even deadlier disease than what we are all dealing with in the coronavirus. What is even more frightening though is the "blame game" that goes on between the various disagreeing countries which leads to ever deadlier planted viruses. The story isn't just medical though, the doctor has a family whose story is very well told and other memorable characters. The resulting deaths are similar in magnitude to those experienced in the 1918 pandemic with the left-behind children and the destruction of society that would accompany a pandemic of that proportion. And of course, the warring nations start taking advantage of other countries weaknesses by inflicting further harm. In all, it is a frightening picture and an engrossing read. The book is well researched and the author does a good job of describing what could happen.

Fascinating read, also very scary. We were very lucky this wasn't infectious to humans because there was just all kinds of exposure to the general public. One can only hope that a real infectious version of teh virus doesn't get into the human population. The science was explained in very understandable terms so it isn't too deep for anyone to read.

I wish the book description said that this was a book about a book that is being written about an autistic child, by a woman author who does not have an autistic child. I think the book description is completely misleading.

That said, I really disliked this book. I hate reading a book that has sections that are from different people's viewpoint without telling you who is "talking" in this section. I had to keep referring back to the beginning to straighten out the names and figure out whose viewpoint I was readimg in this chapter.

To be honest I read enough in the beginning to figure out teh plot and how it was written then skipped to the end and then a couple in the middle so I would know what happend and then quit reading. I haven't not read a book in a long time but I found this one that bad. The overall premise story of the book was good I just thought it was a lousy way of writing it.

This is the second book in a series but I didn't know that when I read the book and it is an excellent stand-alone book. Elle is living her dream, engaged to a pastor, and ready to start living the dream life. However, things don't go quite as planned and the wedding falls through. Elle is disillusioned and disappointed in God. She is renting her house to a widower who is only living in town for the summer. She becomes better acquainted with the widower and his small daughter and also grows in her relationship with God. It is a Christian book that isn't trying too hard to get some message through. Elle's character is well developed and the story sticks with you after you have finished reading.

A great Christmas read. It is sad for the heartbreak that Elise had to suffer in the past but what a wonderful Christmas contract. And Nick is the "friend" that we would all like to meet. A man right out of a storybook but still wonderful!

Totally a fun book to read. A brain, genius lady longs to be a mom but she thinks she has no social skills so she enters into a scheme to get impregnated by what she thinks is a "dumb jock" football player. Well, it all backfires when he finds out and it gets really interesting after that. Add in some marital problems his parents are having and you have a good story. Many laughs and an enjoyable book.

None Braver: U.S. Air Force Pararescuemen in the War on Terrorism
Review Date: 11/27/2020

A great book. Tells some fantastic stories of some of the bravest people in the US military. To be honest, I had never heard of the pararescuemen before reading this book. Their credo, "That Others May Live" really tells the story. They serve, risk their lives, and sometimes die so that someone else may live. The many individual stories are incredible. I enjoyed every page of this book and highly recommend it for anyone to read.

This is a great read for children of all ages. This was one of my favorite books when I was a child and I would have my mother read it repeatedly until I could read it myself. The adventures Packy gets into are hilarious and entertaining. It is one of 3 books in a group including Pokey the Runaway Bear and Sally the Runaway Elephant. All great reads for children.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Each of the three primary characters had something going on in their life that was causing a lot of stress and they did not know how to resolve it. I enjoyed watching them figure out how to manage their problems and getting to make new friends at the same time.

I became interested in this book because of the title and to be honest must have not read much of the summary because it is completely opposite of what I expected. I was sort of expecting some humorous medical stories (which as a nurse I thoroughly enjoy) however it's moving, inspiring and and will most likely bring about a bit of self examination.

It is an excellent book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the whole book (there are some humorous stories in it). I really wish I had read this book prior to becoming a parent and prior to my fathers death, I would have done some things much differently. One of my favorite parts was the author's comments where he said there is probably a fast track to hell for children who have a feeding tube placed in a parent who has dementia and is no longer eating. I had my son read that section.

Another great aspect that shows up in many parts of the book is his attitude about parenting. He obviously is devoted to his children and it shows up in many different parts of the book. It is refreshing to have a doctor speak about his relationships outside of work and how he relates to them. Overall, a great read.
