This is a very enjoyable book in a Jane Austen kind of way. Gaskell is a master of diction and painting subtle, irresistible mini portraits of human nature. She is often down right hilarious. I'm not completely done with the book yet, but as far as I can see, there is not a distinct plot, just interesting episodes in the life of some women of a small English town. A pleasure to read.

Great story line. Stevenson portrayed man's inclination to evil realistically in that the more we feed an evil appetite, the more it takes over and makes us a slave.

A very cute story. Very enjoyable and readable. My 11 year old daughter loved it. And so did her book group.

This is an excellent book.
It is a smooth, fast read. The life of St. Pio reads like a novel. It is hard to put down. The author does a great job of explaining clearly the phenomenon experienced by Padre Pio and documenting well relationships with his many supporters and also Rome. Highly recommend to Catholics and non Catholics.
