Although told in light hearted fashion, I found this book really sad and shocking. I could not put it down because I was in shock over the way these children were raised. I am a mother of 3 and I felt terrible for Jeanette and her siblings. I found myself extremely angry with her parents. Very well written and makes you appreciate what you have.

I read this book while I was being treated for Breast Cancer. It was helpful for me to read about ladies my age and younger (I was 38) going through or having went through what I was. The friendship these ladies shared was touching and amazing. The sad thing is that since the book was written two have passed on. These ladies were strong and handled this battle with strength and a positive outlook.

I loved this book! Not only is it a great adventure. You learn a lot about Egyptian history. I can't wait to read the next one. Rick Riordan is now one of my favorite authors. His books can be read by the whole family. My daughter is almost done with the Percy Jackson series. I also highly recommend. Major Greek Mythology lesson's in this series. It is fun to read the same books with your kids. It really gives you something to talk about.

I remember reading this book when I was a child. It took me away to a different world and I absolutely loved it. My daughter has now read A Wrinkle In Time and feels the way I did.
